Challenge
In Alamo Heights, TX, a homeowner noticed several sections of the sidewalk in front of their property had begun to settle unevenly. The uneven concrete created a potential tripping hazard, which was especially concerning with several elderly residents living nearby. Because the city was unable to assist with the repair, the homeowner contacted Baird Foundation Repair to find a safe and lasting solution. During the inspection, our System Design Specialist found that voids had formed beneath the concrete, allowing sections of the sidewalk to sink.
Solution
Baird recommended using the PolyLevel® system to lift and stabilize the settled sidewalk. Our production team drilled small, pea-sized holes through the affected slabs and injected high-strength polyurethane foam beneath the concrete. As the foam expanded, it filled the voids and carefully lifted the sunken sections back toward their proper position. Once the sidewalk was leveled, the team applied NexusPro® Joint Sealant to the cracks and joints. This helped seal the concrete against water intrusion that could contribute to soil washout and future settlement.
Results
The sidewalk was restored to a more level and stable position, creating a safer walkway for the homeowner and nearby residents. The PolyLevel system addressed the voids beneath the concrete, while NexusPro provided an added layer of protection along the joints and cracks. With the repair completed quickly and with minimal disruption to the property, the homeowner could feel confident knowing their Alamo Heights sidewalk was safer and better protected against future problems.
