Challenge
In Pflugerville, near Austin, TX, a homeowner faced a serious safety concern after his wife tripped on a cracked and uneven section of their sidewalk, resulting in a broken hip. The incident revealed how hazardous their deteriorating concrete had become. Years of soil movement had caused sections of the walkway to sink and crack, creating dangerous trip hazards that threatened both safety and accessibility. Wanting to prevent future accidents, they contacted Baird Foundation Repair to find a permanent concrete repair solution.
Solution
After scheduling a detailed home inspection, our System Design Specialist evaluated the affected sidewalk and developed a customized repair plan focused on safety, stability, and long-term protection. The team lifted the sunken concrete using PolyLevel®, a high-strength polyurethane foam injected through small, pea-sized holes to raise and stabilize the slab without major disruption. Once the surface was leveled, NexusPro® Joint Sealant was applied to seal cracks and joints, preventing water intrusion that can lead to future soil erosion and settlement. To complete the repair, SealantPro® was added to protect the concrete surface from moisture, chemicals, and weather-related damage.
Result
The completed concrete repair eliminated the hazardous uneven surfaces and restored a smooth, stable walkway for the homeowners. The sidewalk and driveway is now safer, more attractive, and protected against future deterioration. Most importantly, the dangerous trip hazards were removed, giving the homeowners renewed peace of mind. This project highlights how professional concrete repair solutions in the Austin, TX area can quickly transform unsafe walkways into durable, long-lasting surfaces.
