Baird was the 3rd company on my short list of getting quotes to somehow repair the huge cracks that had started in our patio a year or so ago and have now gotten much worse. One of my big concerns is that sometimes I am careless when I get in a hurry and the cracks are not level, so there is a possibility of me catching my shoe or more likely my flip-flop on it and tripping, which could result in a fall which of course I want to avoid. The cracks have grown so quickly. They are also concerning as to the different levels of cement make me feel like there’s a lot going on under the Earth and it may not all be good. Lastly-It’s very unsightly!
First of all, I can’t tell you how many communications I’ve had from this company. Reminders and even a picture of the person who would be coming out to talk to me and give us a quote. I’ve never had that experience before and thought it’s wonderful to know who you are actually supposed to be letting into your house. It’s a practice that other company should definitely consider, but I definitely felt like it’s at Baird Foundation Repair apart from the others.
So, this morning at 9:30 on the dot….Immanuel to the rescue!
He communicated with me exactly as I had requested, as I always try to make visits by strangers to our home less stressful to our dog.
When Immanuel arrived, we went to the backyard and he started studying the cracks and explaining to me some of his thoughts on what was happening. Everything was very logical and made sense. It was nice to be able to understand without feeling stupid. He also explained his plan of attack in terms of drawing up some sketches on his iPad, giving me a presentation and being able to present me with a quote today.
He brought him some tools from his vehicle and proceeded to do some measuring and tapping and such to determine what was going on- he called me out at one point to let me listen to what solid cement versus Hollow cement sounds like. The water damage she talked about made perfect sense as we have not had any gutters on the back of our home and the way our roof is designed. The water comes down in quite a large mass when it’s raining hard right onto the concrete of our patio and evidently underneath it, causing the shift.
We then came into the house and sat at the table and he began his presentation. Even though I had done some research on the company, it was nice to see some of the awards they had been given, especially the one for ethical business practices by the BBB.
The presentation then went into an explanation of exactly what was happening on our patio and what the resolutions would look like at various levels, depending on what we wanted as an outcome.
I felt like it was almost miraculous that the quote for exactly the portions that I wanted came to within a couple hundred dollars of our budget for this project.
We then talked through some of my questions and I determine this was something that would benefit our home and us all the way around! Immanuel made it very easy to choose from the payment options they offer with no penalty for paying it off early -an ability to get on their busy calendar before spring next year which outfit fit perfectly into the timing that was best for us.
I am so happy and so excited to have this done early next year. I spend a lot of time outside and I know it will help me enjoy the patio so much more.
