Senior Accountant

 

 

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant performs a variety of tasks to support the accounting department, including revenue recognition, inventory management, period-end close procedures, general ledger accounting, and weekly payroll. This position is exempt under FLSA and reports to the controller.

Essential Job Functions

Revenue Recognition

  • Reconciles revenue between QuickBooks and the CRM.
  • Ensures that all project revenue agrees to relevant sales contracts.
  • Records work-in-process journal entry at the end of each month.

Inventory Management

  • Ensures that inventory used is accurately recorded for all projects.
  • Performs month-end physical inventory counts.
  • Manages inventory lists in relevant systems.
  • Approves inventory purchases for payment.
  • Reconciles book inventory to physical inventory to make necessary adjustments.

Period-end Close Procedures and General Ledger Accounting

  • Performs month-end, quarter-end, annual close, and financial reporting procedures.
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries by compiling and analyzing monthly account information and activity.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet and expense account reconciliations.
  • Supports preparation of monthly financial reporting packages.
  • Researches and advises on US GAAP accounting treatment.
  • Provides support and training to Accounting Assistants with A/R and A/P.

Weekly Payroll

  • Calculates variable compensation for relevant employees.
  • Processes employee timecards and resolves related issues.
  • Submits variable compensation and timecards to payroll processing company.
  • Pays employees accurately and timely.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a bachelor’s degree in another field coupled with a Certified Public Accounting designation
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience performing standard accounting functions, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing financial results for internal and external purposes or auditor for public accounting firm.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, payroll, and related principles and practices, including US GAAP.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and programs.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to detect/recognize information in written materials and on computer screen 75-100% of time.
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, maintaining a stationary position most of the time.
