Crawl Space Waterproofing

Waterproofing Your Crawl Space In Texas

Imagine walking through a dark cave where the air is suffocatingly muggy. The humidity is causing the walls to deteriorate, and the stench of mold is fumigating your surroundings. These conditions aren’t ideal for anyone, especially if they were present in your home.

When water infiltrates your Texas crawl space, it may experience many of these issues.

Baird Foundation Repair aims to keep your foundation and structure free from water damage! Our professional foundation experts are motivated to provide stellar services to homeowners throughout Texas. With our efficient waterproofing services, you can rest assured that your home will be protected from structural damage.

Crawl Space Encapsulation

How Does Waterproofing A Crawl Space Work?

The waterproofing process is comprehensive and protects your home from various crawl space problems that can compromise its livability. One of our experts will inspect the area for any areas with leakage or water damage.

Once these entryways have been discovered and corrected, we’ll install a CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier on the floor and walls of your crawl space. This durable 20-mil poly-reinforced sheet prevents moisture from entering the area. It also has a mold-resistant additive called “Ultra Fresh,” which protects the area from mold infestation.

Reasons To Waterproof Crawl Space

When your crawl space is safeguarded from moisture and humidity, you help protect your home from their effects. Water damage can cause various secondary problems, many of which can worsen in a short period of time. There are many reasons to undergo an encapsulation service.

Mold And Fungus Grow In Moist Conditions

Mold and other fungi are attracted to dark and damp enclosed areas. These criteria make your crawl space an ideal place for them to grow. Sealing off the area from moisture infiltration makes this environment unsuitable for this growth. It will also protect other areas of your home from mold exposure.

Moisture Causes Structural Damage

Wet conditions can be detrimental to your home’s foundation. The moisture can cause wood to rot and decay, weakening the load-bearing components underneath your house.

By waterproofing the area, you’ll create a barrier that protects against these destructive elements. This service will provide additional support to your home and save you money on potential structural or crawl space repair costs.

Contaminants Lower Indoor Air Quality

Even though your crawl space is located beneath your home, it can affect your indoor air quality. When mold and mildew grow in this area, the pollutants can release harmful spores into the air. This bacteria is circulated throughout your home, which can lower your indoor air quality.

Keeping the area dry and well-ventilated will allow your home to remain comfortable and healthy.

Benefits Of Crawl Space Encapsulation

Waterproofing your crawl space isn’t just another one of our stellar services. It’s also an effective strategy that provides your home with many other advantages! Encapsulating this area is the key to many benefits, a few of which include:

  • Increases property value
  • Higher energy efficiency

What Is A Vapor Barrier?

Since your crawl space isn’t immediately visible, it’s easy for it to become out of sight, out of mind. However, this area is prone to experiencing moisture issues that can compromise your indoor comfort.

Vapor barriers, also known as vapor retarders, reduce water damage and similar problems that impact your home.

Trust We've Earned

Dear Mr. Chaney: Too often companies get sent and commendations get filed in the future folder. My wife Carolyn and I want to thank you for the work your crew did in our crawl-space, replacing eight water-damaged floor joists and over forty feet of 2 x 4 toe-plate last month. The work crew included Gabriel, Hector, and Israel led by their chief, Jesus. They arrived as scheduled and worked diligently to finish in two days. And they even reconnected the A/C condensate PVC that had caused the rotting of the wood in the first place. Despite much creaking and popping noise during the hydraulic lifting, the only damage to our 70+ year-old house was minor cracking in the bathroom's ceramic-tile floor. Your firm had been recommended by service persons in the building trades, and we will add our recommendation whenever anyone mention foundation problems. May the Lord continue to bless you, your family, and your business. Sincerely, William M. and Carolyn A. Gisler

I want to thank Baird Foundation for the good work they did. I especially want to thank Manual’s crew for the good work they did. They started at the worst time of the year because of the rain and every week they come by and either pumped water out of the ditch or checked if it was dry underneath the house. As soon as it dried out, they went to work and finished the job. I would highly recommend Baird Foundation to anyone else needing foundation repairs. I was very satisfied with the work they did. Thank you, Jesse Tijerina

We bought a house built in 1917. It still had the original cedar post pier and beam foundation. There was termite damage and a lot of rot. The house was heavily leaning - needed new posts, beams and leveling. We got many quotes, but only Baird Foundation Repair offered to put concrete posts for a reasonable price. Everyone else offered sub-standard pad and block foundation for the same price. They also noticed that the sub-floor joists in one corner of the house were completely rotten and needed replacement. They gave a very good quote to replace those as well and we took their offer. The work took around 10 days and was carried out well. The house was leveled, new posts and beams put in. The only complaint I would have is that the company is not top notch when it comes to customer relations, but they get the work done well and that's what matters for years to come.
